I think that when a new member signs up, if they put in the username or ID number of the person that recruited them, the recruiter should get 5000 points!

I think that's a good idea. that's a decent number of points to get for recruiting someone.

Hmmm, I really like this idea. However, I can also see it getting abused quite a bit. For instance, by some of our less than lovely members...not all of you, but a select few, that might create duplicates, and put their own user ID as the referral. So, it could work...perhaps though, the person who did the referring, wouldn't get the points until after the referred account was verified, to at least minimize abuse. I'll see if I can direct J, and/or Chris to this topic, to have a peek at it.

Yes, I see your point. Thanks for taking it in to consideration. Hope it's a go.

Agreed. it does sound like a cool idea. A lot of sites have something like this.

lol, "refer" sounds so like we're trying to sell Herbalife or recruit or something But the idea is definitely just fine. I'm not sure people will bother with the duplicate accounts, I mean, it's not as if the points are actual money or worth that much, at least I don't think so.

I like that and if you purchase a premium for someone, give 10,000 points as well.

I deffenatlly like this idea!

You have no idea what lengths people will go to to get points. It's rather sad, really. It wouldn't surprise me, that the day we implement this idea, if we don't take precautions, that we'll have a flock of duplicates created.

and maybe a flock of them disabled. haha. sounds neet!

yeh, agreed. love the idea! I think it will only work as maddog suggested; when the new account has been varified. :)

In addition to what Ather suggested, I think it would be even better if when the duplicate account is disabled, the remaining account of the guilty party automatically loses all his/her points.
